Integrated rail and logistics provider, SCT Group, commenced the build of its new Altona site last month.
Victorian Government representatives and Minister for Ports and Freight, Melissa Horne, attended the project site for the soil turning ceremony.
“SCT Logistics is proud to be working with in partnership with Government on this important project,” said SCT Group Managing Director, Geoff Smith.
“We’re investing more than $16 million at Altona to improve and enhance our hub port capability with a direct rail connection to the Port of Melbourne to receive and dispatch port shuttle trains from the regions and interstate.”
Freight Victoria Executive Director, Praveen Reddy, thanked Smith and SCT Group General Manager – Ports and Government Relations, Matt Eryurek, for hosting the Government delegation.
“The commencement of works on SCT’s Altona terminal is a significant milestone in the life of the port rail shuttle network,” said Reddy. “Congratulations to all involved.”
