Having spent the past 36 years manufacturing truck bodies and semi trailers that are built to suit Australian roads, Vawdrey understands the challenges Australian operators are often confronted with. The company is currently expanding its presence in the heavy-duty refrigeration markets in northern Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia.
“Australia challenges body builders like no other country on earth and if you take any short cuts in your building process, you’ll be found wanting,” says Paul Vawdrey.
Since the Iceliner was first introduced, it has developed a strong presence in the refrigerated transport industry. The Iceliner is now completely manufactured and assembled from Vawdrey’s Dandenong South plant and customers are offered greater flexibility in specifications and faster turn-around times.
“We have built the Iceliner based on field experience, customer needs and a sound manufacturing process. It’s a robust all Australian-made product that addresses the needs of the Australian heavy-duty refrigeration market,” says Director, Paul Vawdrey.
Iceliner trailers are available in -18ºC, -28ºC and multi-temperature specifications and are well suited to both distribution and heavy-duty applications. A full length lightweight steel chassis gives the trailer the added strength and durability that is necessary for heavy-duty applications without adversely affecting payload.
The new 36 pallet drive through is the latest addition to the Vawdrey Iceliner product range and is capable of maintaining temperatures of as low as -18ºC. The first two combinations have recently been successfully delivered to Linfox for inclusion in their interstate operations fleet. The combinations feature 14 pallet ‘Roll Back’ lead trailers combined with 22 pallet rear trailers. Electrically operated insulated roller doors are fitted to the rear of the A trailer and front of the B trailer. The A trailer is simply rolled back to allow full drive through loading of the entire combination. To further maximise carrying capacity both trailers are fitted with a vertical track double loader system. The design features provision to completely remove the double loader bars when required. Floors in both trailers are forklift and pallet jack rated aluminium distribution floors with a non-slip surface treatment and drain troughs plumbed to a waste tank. To keep its cool, the combination is fitted with Carrier under mount refrigeration plants working through remote evaporators. These combined with the fully insulated Iceliner body ensure the product is maintained at the correct temperature throughout the journey. Safety items include side under run protection and park brake interlocks when the refrigeration plants are connected to mains supply.
Paul comments, “This latest Iceliner is an important moment in the development of our refrigerated product line up for our customers that demand nothing but the best. And that’s what we’ve delivered.”
Many transport companies still recognise the benefits they can gain by choosing solid Australian built trailers that have been designed specifically for Australian conditions and are supported by a network of local branches.
Vawdrey is committed to this philosophy and is currently in the process of completing several Iceliner orders for a number of transport companies including Toll and Centurion in Western Australia.
